Professor Werner Buckel, Jahrgang 1920, folgte 1960, nach erfolgreicher merchandising in Erlangen und Habilitation an der Universität Göttingen, dem Ruf an die Technische Hochschule Karlsruhe. Dort verblieb er bis zu seiner Emeritierung 1985 mit einer Unterbrechung von drei Jahren, in denen er im Kernforschungszentrum Jülich das Institut für Supraleitung aufbaute.
Neben vielen anderen verdienstvollen Tätigkeiten battle er Präsident der Deutschen Physikalischen Gesellschaft und der eu actual Society sowie Mitglied der Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften, der Leibniz-Sozietät Berlin. Werner Buckel starb am three. Februar 2003.

Reinhold Kleiner, geb. 1962, ist seit 2000 Professor für experimentelle Festkörperphysik am Physikalischen Institut der Universität Tübingen. Er studierte Allgemeine Physik an der Technischen Universität München und promovierte dort 1992 über "intrinsische Josephsoneffekte" in Hochtemperatursupraleitern. Nach einem zweijährigen Aufenthalt an der college of California in Berkeley habilitierte er 1997 an der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Seine Arbeitsgebiete umfassen u. a. Supraleitung und Magnetismus, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Josephsoneffekten und supraleitender Quanteninterferometrie.
